President Bola Tinubu on Thursday commiserated with families and organisations affected by the fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island, which claimed several lives and left many injured.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President extended condolences to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital Plc, and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, whose staff were among the victims.
He also sympathised with Afriland Properties Limited, owners of the building.
Tinubu assured bereaved families of his thoughts and prayers and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
“The President extends his condolences to the management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, the FIRS, United Capital, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno, and the injured who are currently receiving medical attention,” the statement read.
He also praised the swift response of emergency workers, including the Federal Fire Service, medical personnel, first aiders, and members of the public who assisted during the evacuation, describing their efforts as a reflection of “a deep sense of responsibility.”
Advising greater caution and preparedness, Tinubu called for enhanced training and vigilance to prevent similar tragedies in future.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for their families.
