The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reduced its presidential nomination form fee to ₦90 million and unveiled a comprehensive timetable for its 2026 primary elections, in a move to broaden participation and strengthen internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party had earlier pegged the presidential nomination form at ₦100 million before the latest review.
Announcing the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, aspirants and stakeholders across the country.
Under the revised fee structure, governorship nomination forms are priced at ₦30 million, Senate at ₦10 million, House of Representatives at ₦5 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦2 million.
In a clear push for inclusiveness, the ADC retained its concession policy, offering a 50 percent discount to youths aged 18 to 35, and a 25 percent discount to women and persons with disabilities.
The party also released a detailed timetable outlining key activities leading up to its primaries. Sale of nomination forms commenced on May 1 and will close on May 4, while submission of completed forms is scheduled for May 6 to May 13.
Screening of aspirants will take place from May 14 to May 15, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals are slated for May 18 to May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
According to the schedule, primaries for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats will be held on May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22. The presidential primary is fixed for May 23.
The process will culminate in key party meetings, including the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on May 25 and the Special National Convention scheduled for May 26, 2026.
Abdullahi noted that the adjustments reflect the party’s commitment to enhancing transparency, fairness and broader access for aspirants.
He urged all aspirants and stakeholders to comply strictly with the revised timetable and guidelines, stressing that discipline and adherence to due process would be critical to the success of the primaries.
