The Councilor representing Ohafor Ward 1 (Asaga Ohafia) in Ohafia Local Council, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke said he has committed over N6 million in contributing to the development of the ward. Nwoke stated this while conducting our correspondent around the sites of some of the major projects, adding that he wants to give back meaningfully both in representation and value to the ward.
“I am in politics to serve. I want to be remembered for what I have done for the ward. I want to put smiles on the faces of the people for finding me worthy to represent them in the council,” he noted. The projects include building of a culvert, renovation of ten community halls, provision of light on Uma Oke Eleazu Road, and rehabilitation of a dangerous spot on a major road (Ugwuaba) in the ward.
“I have also provided free farm shuttle bus service for farmers which operates on Eke days as well as water supply to the various sections of the ward on designated days,” he announced. He said he did not embarked on the project and services because he had gotten all the monies in the world, but to show that even with little resources, one could still be helpful to others if the desire is there.
He explained that though the tenure of the council would soon end, he was determined to add value to the lives of the people through humanitarian services whether as a councilor or not. The deputy leader of the council noted with satisfaction the performance of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in office, saying with the meager resources available to the state, the governor had delivered on his promises.
“So, the best way to appreciate his achievements is to return him to office in 2019 to continue with what he is doing for the greater development of the state and the people in general.
