Ukwa-Ngwa bloc of Abia State has threatened to ostracise any of their indigenes who contests the governorship of the state at any level against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2019.
This is just as they would apply the same measure on any of them who accepts offer of deputy governorship ticket from any political party for the same election.
The people stated this in a communiqué they issued at the end of the Great Ukwa/Ngwa ii Declaration at Opkuala Ngwa Parade Ground in Okpuala Ngwa in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.
Similarly, the people, who occupy nine out of the 17 local council areas of the state endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor as their sole candidate for the election.
Speaking on the occasion, Ikpeazu expressed happiness over their confidence reposed in him and for the endorsement, assuring that he would continue to live up to their expectations.
He told them that their desire to return him to office should not stop at declaring their endorsement for him, but must be extended to acquiring their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“We know the antics of our opponents, they are not resting. So we must be fully prepared for the battle by acquiring the weapon for it which is the PVC,” he noted.
In his speech, the Convener of the declaration, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba stressed that the people should rally round the governor to ensure his success in office.
He said in the past two years the governor had consistently maintained a steady hand in governance with great commitment to panache to the admiration of all.
According the him, “Governor Ikpeazu has shown to have the gravitas, presence of mind and understanding of the issues as a great ambassador of Ukwa-Ngwa nation.”
Declaring the occasion open, the Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Adaelu said Ikpeazu had done what no administration had been able to do in Aba in the past 45 years.
Former Senate president, Senator Adolph Wabara, who was seconded by Chief Chukwu Wachukwu, had while moving the motion for the endorsement, called Ikpeazu a game changer.
