The Aba General Hospital, has rebounded with the hope of receiving state of the art medical equipment and supplies after laying moribund since 2010 .
At the reopening ceremony of the hospital, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said the move was part of the administration’s efforts at strengthening the health sector of the state.
He recalled with deep concern how the hospital, which was once associated with providing services for all manners of ailments had came to such state of dilapidation.
Furthermore, he announced that the administration would provide the hospital with a 250 KVA generator set within one month while the rehabilitation of the structures continues.
Ikpeazu, who revealed that the state was expecting four containers of assorted hospital equipment from abroad, added that some of them would be delivered to the hospital.
According to him, “I see a tomorrow for this place better than what we have seen before. Soon the best medical equipment in the world will be in this hospital.”
In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr John Ahukanna restated the administration’s commitment to rehabilitate moribund hospitals in the state.
Similarly, the Executive Secretary, Hospital Management Board (HMB), Dr Ijeoma Nduka, and the chairman of the board, Mr. Alozie Reginald, regretted the state of the hospital.
