Mr Isaac Wadak, a former Permanent Secretary in the ministry of finance has indicated interest to contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the senatorial seat of Plateau Central Senatorial District currently being occupied by former Governor Joshua Dariye, also of the PDP, in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
In a chat with our correspondent over the weekend, Mr Wadak express his vision of touching the grassroots through well coordinated programme of transforming rural communities.
He said he was encouraged to vie for the senatorial seat of Plateau central district because he believes in the democratic tenet of promoting people driven projects that have direct impact on the development of the state.
According to him, “I want to use this opportunity to declare my intention to join the race of Plateau central senatorial seat. I hail from Kabir in Pada ward of Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state .
“I am prepared to add value and quality to the contest of the position to provide the electorate with the chance to choose the right person to represent them “.
Speaking on his relationship with the grassroots, Mr Wadak said throughout “my career, I built cordial and mutual respect with the people of my constituency and now I have vowed to offer myself for good representation.
He pointed out that the basic chance left for him now if given the mandate in 2019, is,“I shall return back power to the people because democracy is all about good governance” .
Mr Isaac Wadak noted that part of his electioneering campaign manifesto focuses on a youth empowerment which is youth driven and directed unlike the current case whereby skills acquisition programmes are carried out by governments and agencies without inputs from the youths.
He drummed support for the anti-grazing law of some states, which is attracting national discourse amongst the political elite.
His Campaign Director, Alh Yakubu Umar Kanam assured the electorates of Mr Isaac Wadak leadership quality, describing him as a man of integrity, honesty and transparency with a track record of achievement in the area of women and youth empowerment.
Umar said the organisation will soon kick- start the necessary programmes across the wards and polling units towards sensitising and mobilising the grassroots towards for Wadak’s victory.
