The Director General of Rescue League of Unity (RESLU) of the All Progressives Congress , APC, in the state, Stephen A.Jings has said that the body has recruited 29,000 volunteers in 325 wards and 2,631 polling units across the 17 local governments of the state towards achieving victory for the party in the February Local Government polls.
Jings disclosed this during the official unveiling of the league and inauguration of the state executive committee at Vopye, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The former management committee chairman of Pankshin LGA said the organisation has endorsed President Buhari and Governor Lalong as their sole candidates in 2019, based on their track record of achievement in office.
He used the occasion to congratulate all the board chairmen and board members in Plateau state as he encouraged politicians on the RESLU platform to embark on massive recruitment ahead of the forthcoming LG election in the state.
Stephen Jings urged the supporters of APC to use the group to canvas for the re-election.
“We have now decided to use the league to serve as a veritable buffer to complement the effort of the party by mobilising support across the state, seeking to open some kind of voter factory that would multiply its campaign process in a geometrical progression.
Also adding his voice, APC chairmanship candidate of Riyom LGA, Hon Mafen Gwallson expressed confidence that the RESLU in partner with all party faithfuls would promote the tenets of democracy towards encouraging grassroots politics for active participation of the people .
According to him, “our network can serve as tributaries for the distribution of election materials among voters, it will serve as an anti- rigging machine, as political educator and agents of the party at elections .This is is in addition to any other assignment the party will call upon the league to undertake.
The Chairman of occasion, Chief Philip Tattari Shekwo commended the state chapter of the APC for taking this bold step to encourage political campaign for the re-election of the party’s candidates.
He said Plateau state is strategic to the people of the middle belt because of the overwhelming votes it gave in the 2015 poll, which made other states to key in to vote APC in the general poll.
Shekwo also commended the league for their renewed call and support for the re-election of PMB and Lalong in 2019.
