Allegations of mismanagement and religious bigotry swirling round Dr. Usman Bamalli, the Acting Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences, Jos branch is been championed by the Joint Research and Allied Unions (JORAISU) in conjunction with workers of the Institute.
During a protest at the entrance gate of the Institute Geosciences Mining office, Chairman NASU, Comrade John Gyang and Chairman SSAUTHRIAL -NIMG, Comrade Ogunsanya Mintim accused Bamalli of running the institute with junior officers as heads of departments just to enhance his one man management style.
The aggrieved workers blamed the director for staffing the Institute with workers who illegally transfer their services from other agencies /parastatals under the MMSD in order to truncate or block the growth of existing staff in contravention of the extant circular halting transfer of service .
Quoting from the relevant sections of the circular, FCSC/CHMN/Vol17 /36 on public served rules on transfer of service, availability of vacancy, advertisements, interview and recruitment before transfer of service becomes valid, the unions called on the Federal Government to relieve Bamalli of his position as the director of NIMG for his incompetence.
They demanded for his replacement with a more qualified, experienced and competent person, adding that investigation should then be conducted on all the petitions and allegations of corruption levelled against him before appropriate sanctions are meeted out to serve as deterrent to any successor.
While contacted on phone for his reaction, Bamalli declined to comment though he stated that the minister is aware of the development in the Jos branch office of NIMG.
“I don’t want to comment now, please”, he said.
