A group of Concerned All Progressive Congress, APC, supporters from Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state has rejected the candidature Mohammed Abdullahi Barau for the LGA.
The protesters who staged what they called “a walk against impunity and imposition of candidate of the Local Council Election on Friday at Angwan Goje, Kanam LGA”, accused the State Chairman, Latep Dabang of conniving with Arc Pam Dung Gyang to rig and impose unpopular persons as candidates, alleging that this is the surest path to the eventual failure and collapse of the support for Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s administration in Kanam.
Spokesman of the group, Ahamad S. Garga said, “We want to specifically draw the attention of the Governor to the devilish conspiracy of the APC state Chairman, Hon Latep Dabang and the former Deputy Speaker ,Rt Yusuf Gagdi for disenfranchising authentic delegates at the just concluded primaries. Hon Adamu Wokdung won the primaries for chairmanship. We pray that His Excellency, the governor should rescue the peoples mandate stolen by chairman Letep Dabang and restore it to the rightful person ,Hon Abbas Adamu Wokdung”.
Added that Lalong should check the “excesses of the state party chairman and his co travellers now that his political godfather Atiku Abubakar has defected to the PDP.”
Garga warned that failure to “rectify this injustice meted to us can be lead to fresh consequences as we do not have the capacity to control protest vote from our teeming supporters”
