The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, IEDC, has debunked rumours making the rounds, especially in the social media, that a part of Lagos metropolis will be thrown into darkness because of scheduled maintenance on its electricity facilities.
The company said that, contrary to what is being circulated, there will only be temporary blackout in Mende, Anthony, Maryland, Ikeja GRA, parts of Ojota, Ketu and Ikosi which will be temporarily affected by a rehabilitation work on the companies installations.
The company said Lagos will not experience power blackout for one week because of rehabilitation of Maryland Injection Substation which will only partially affect power supply to the areas mentioned.
The Company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, who spoke on this matter cautioned against unsubstantiated stories that are now common in the social media.
He said such misleading information could create problem for the society, hence the Corporation had taken it upon itself to properly educate the public.
Ofulue asked for the co-operation of members of the public, especially the company’s consumers in the areas going to be temporarily affected by the maintenance work.
He urged stakeholders such as community development groups, landlord associations and others to always relate favourably with the company for effective communication with their people.
