President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah.
The President’s planned trip was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the visit will provide Tinubu an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
While in Makkah, the President will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage to the Holy City, and pray for divine guidance and blessings for the country and its people.
The trip comes as the Federal Government continues to address national security concerns and economic challenges while pursuing its development agenda.
Before departing Abuja, the President will commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations.
The commissioning is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The commissioning will precede Tinubu’s departure for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to undertake the spiritual exercise.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the Umrah pilgrimage.
Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place during a specific period in the Islamic calendar.
