The Emir of Biu in Borno state, His Royal Highness, Alh. (Dr) Mustapha Umar Mustapha Aliyu II has turbaned Alhaji Hussaini Adam as newly appointed Galadima of the Emirate Council.
Hussaini, a twin who broke the jinx succeeded his late father, Adam Galadima who was appointed by the Emirate some years ago but did not witness official turbaning/crowning as he died before the date.
Late Adam became Galadima, after the demise of his late Father and first Galadima of Biu, Alhaji Usman Dili who also died before his turbaning some decades ago.
Also turbaned are the former minister of Women Affairs and the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma as Jakadiyar Biu Emirate, Umar Ibrahim Viu Kuthla as Wakilin Yamma, Ibrahim Usman Kadafur as Shamaki and Tahir Umar Kadafur (Al-Amin), a youngest son of the state Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur as Adon Garin Biu Emirate.
Addressing the massive gathering at his palace in Biu town on Saturday, the Emir congratulated all the five chieftancy title holders, describing their appointment “as purely based on merit”.
He said, “all the newly turbaned/awardees have demonstrated exceptional courage and steadfastness in the development of traditional institution not only in Biu, but to the entire state and the country as a whole”.
While blessing them for the new tasks ahead, he called on the people of the Emirate to foster unity irrespective of political, religious or ethnic considerations, as doing so, would definitely ensure peaceful coexistence and development in the Emirate and the entire nation.
The Emir explained that some of the titles were deliberately introduced to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual understanding within the emirate.
He also offered prayers for Allah’s guidance and for lasting peace in Borno State and the country at large.
The ceremony featured rich cultural performances by various troupes, including traditional dancers from Borno, as well as popular entertainers such as Dankwairo Biu and Gombe, Maliki dancers, Mohammed Mai Gurmi, Fati Gombe, Tamarin Askira, and Musa Yerima, adding colour and excitement to the occasion.
Speaking on behalf of the newly turbaned title holders, Hajiya Inna Maryam Chiroma, Jakadiyar Biu, expressed gratitude to the Emir for finding them worthy of the honour. She pledged their collective commitment to work closely with the Emirate Council towards the progress and development of the Biu Emirate.
She also appreciated dignitaries who graced the occasion, including the Deputy Governor who represented the Executive Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, as well as other emirs and prominent personalities.
She concluded with prayers for Allah’s continued blessings and guidance.
Prominent personalities who grace the occasion were the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Shehu of Bama, Emirs of Biu, Shani, Askira, Uba, and Gwoza, former Deputy governors, Members of the Borno State House of Assembly, Special Advisers to the Governor, former ministers, Local Government Chairmen, former Commissioners, head of security agencies, traditional title holders, Party Stakeholders among others.
