President Bola Tinubu on Sunday expressed relief and satisfaction over the successful rescue of 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, as well as 51 students earlier reported missing from a Catholic school in Niger State.
In a statement personally issued by the President, he recalled cancelling his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to coordinate national security operations following a spike in attacks across parts of the country.
Tinubu said the latest breakthroughs resulted from intensified, round-the-clock actions by security agencies, with tactical units engaging in sustained pursuit of the criminal networks behind the abductions.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,” he said.
The President added that he is receiving continuous updates from frontline operational commanders, stressing that national security remains the highest priority of his administration.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he assured.
The rescue operations come amid renewed calls for stronger federal intervention following a series of coordinated attacks on schools and religious centres in recent weeks.
