After losing 0.05 percent on Thursday, trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed the week transaction on Friday on a positive note as key market indicators increased by 0.85 percent, bringing the year to date return to 32.05 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 35,488.81 against the previous close of 35,188.97, while Market Capitalization closed at N12.234 trillion as against previous close of N12.130 trillion. Volume traded decreased by 55.22 percent from 429.224 million to 192.204 million.
While the total value of stock traded decreased by 57.62 percent from N8.680 billion to N3.679 billion in 2,814 deals, the Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 159.21 million shares exchanged for N2.176 billion.
Consumer Goods came next with 15.55 million shares traded for N1.07 billion, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas, Industrial Goods sectors followed in that order on the activity chart. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Jaiz Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, FCMB Holding Plc and Zenith Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume.
Unilever Nigeria Plc, PZ Cusson Nigeria Plc, C & I Leasing Plc, United Bank for Africa and FBN Holding Plc emerged the highest price gainers, while Julius Berger Plc, NCR Plc, Caverton Offshore Plc, Eterna Oil Plc and International Breweries Plc topped the losers table. A total of 95 companies shares were traded, with 22 gainers and 14 losers. 59 companies share price remained unchanged at the close of business.
