The National Council and Southwest Advisory Council of the Obidient Movement, OM, has declared as false reports circulating in some newspapers and online publication claiming that the list of names released by the Lagos Obidient Movement lacked wide consultation in its compilation by the executive members of the Lagos State Coordinating Council of the movement.
Southwest Coordinator, Hon. Seyi Sowunmi and members of its Southwest Advisory Council, Pastor Ime James and Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji as well and the Coordinator, National Supporting Advisory Council, March Oyinki, in a statement said, “we categorically reject the false publications and call on Nigerians and Obidients in Lagos to join hands in building a new Nigeria that is possible in our life time.”
According to them, the Southwest Advisory Council consulted widely among stakeholders including financial contributors in Lagos, particularly elected House of Representatives members in Lagos state and the 2023 aspirants on the platform of Labour Party, as well as the support groups, to ensure that members from every local government area in the state, were represented in the nomination process before a consolidated list was transmitted to the National Council.
They noted that National Coordinator of OM, Tanko Yinusa was not involved in the nomination of members and further stated that the drawn-up list was a painstaking product of five months efforts to “identify the most brilliant, articulate, passionate and resourceful members of the movement from supports groups from local governments and the general public,”, adding that, “the List was released on October 1, 2025 to the Yinusa-led National Council for ratification. Local Governments that were not fully captured in the draft would be taken care off in the ongoing meetings to resolve disputes that may have arisen from the earlier exercise.”
Emphasizing that the publications in circulation are inaccurate and unrepresentative of its membership, they urged members and the general public to disregard them and await the list that would emerge from a more transparent process.
