Gov Nwifuru
A private radio station in Ebonyi State, Legacy FM, has suspended its acting General Manager, Odoh Chikwere, for allegedly criticising Governor Francis Nwifuru.
In a statement on Monday, the Radio Station accused Chikwere of “unruly behaviour” and violation of its code of conduct. He was directed to hand over all company property to the next senior officer.
Odoh had, in a Facebook post on Friday, accused the Nwifuru administration of poor communication, underperforming appointees, and lacking policy direction, urging Nwifuru to take bold action to strengthen his support base. He also accused the governor of pampering most of his appointees and urged him to “Step on toes to achieve results.”
In response, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, described the Facebook criticism as unfounded and baseless, stressing that the personality of the Ebonyi Governor is too big for social media content creation.
Uzor highlighted support from the State Government to the Radio Station, which includes an Operational SUV, a brand new transformer and Road construction to the station, wondering why the station turned into a slaughterhouse of the Governor’s genuine development efforts and goodwill, and lack of balanced reportage of government activities.
