President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on players of the Super Falcons and members of the technical crew following their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The President also announced cash rewards of the naira equivalent of $100,000 for each of the 24 players and $50,000 for each member of the technical crew.
The Super Falcons lifted the WAFCON trophy for a record 10th time after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco on Saturday.
Receiving the team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday, Tinubu praised their performance, describing it as a testament to the “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage.”
“In recognition of your historic achievement and the pride you’ve brought to our nation, I hereby confer on you the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger,” he said.
The President further announced the allocation of a three-bedroom apartment to each player and crew member in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Abuja.
“I congratulate you once again. The nation is proud of you, and I will continue to pray for your continued success,” Tinubu added.
