The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists against offering bribes to its patrol operatives, insisting that all traffic fines must be paid only through designated banks into the government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA).
The Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Tuesday said the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, had warned that any motorist caught attempting to bribe FRSC personnel would be arrested and prosecuted.
“Any motorist found attempting to bribe FRSC personnel will be arrested and prosecuted. This is in line with the Corps’ Establishment Act (2007). The FRSC does not, and will not, tolerate any form of corruption,” the statement read.
Mohammed stressed that bribery undermines the Corps’ values and standard operating procedures, and urged motorists to always comply with proper payment channels.
“All fines generated through patrol operations must be paid directly into the Treasury Single Account via designated banks—not to individual officers,” he added.
The Corps Marshal also cautioned FRSC personnel against soliciting or collecting bribes, warning that such misconduct would attract strict disciplinary action. He encouraged the public to report erring officers through official channels.

Mohammed further urged Nigerians to abide by all traffic regulations governing the movement of people, animals, and goods across the country.
He praised citizens who report misconduct without resorting to violence, describing them as “responsible stakeholders in the Corps’ mission to rid the roads of indiscipline.”
