Gunmen Kill CCC Pastor During Service In Ogun, Dismember Body

Gunmen killed the Shepherd-in-charge of a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Yomi Adetula, at Idiroko Border town of Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday morning.

The deceased, until his death, was the Commander of the Idiroko Units of Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps(So-Safe)

He was said to have been gunned down by his assailants numbering about six in his church on Sunday morning at about 11:00a.m.

Our correspondent learnt that Adetula’s assailants clad in CCC white garments stormed the Hebrew Celestial Church, located at Odo Eran, Idiroko, with AK-47 ruffles and rained bullets on him while preaching at the altar.

The assailants, it was gathered, after shooting him, waited to confirm him dead, before dismembering his body inside the church and left the scene immediately.

Since the cause of his attack remains unknown, it was also learnt that the deceased, over the past few months had been at war with certain smuggling cartel in Idiroko Border town, which forced him to move to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in December 2024.

Some members of the church who spoke under anonymity, said that the development led to a forceful closure of the church on December 2024 by some suspected smugglers the pastor allegedly had issues with.

The State Commander of the So-SAFE Corps, Soji Ganzalo, who confirmed the incident, described the news of Adetula’s death as a rude shock.

Ganzalo, therefore, said that the SO-SAFE Corp would do everything possible to assist sister security agencies to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
