The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has sounded the alarm over the emergence of dangerous drugs with unsettling street names, warning of their growing abuse among youths.
The NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the development in a statement following recent seizures in Lagos and Kano, which exposed the prevalence of these harmful substances.
Babafemi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighted the disturbing trend of youths consuming new psychoactive substances and other harmful drugs labeled with names such as “Suck & Die,” “Rubber Solution,” “Dead Man,” and “Gelato.”
He called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to stay vigilant and take proactive measures to identify and curb the menace in their communities.
“Narco-trend update: Parents, shine your eyes. Latest seizures by @ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos and Kano reveal scary names of some substances, including NPS, we should all watch out for in our homes and communities: Suck & Die, Rubber Solution, Dead Man, Gelato,” Babafemi wrote.
The NDLEA emphasized its commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking, urging stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring a drug-free society.
