“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ”

1 CORINTHIANS 2:16

INTRODUCTION:

The mind can be defined as an essential part of a human being where all our thoughts, reasons, opinions, imaginations, actions, etc. in life are first hatched and processed.

Simply put, the mind is the faculty in our soul that give us the ability to think and reason intellectually before acting. The mind is what differentiates humans from animals: period.

In other words, a person that does not or a people that do not engage their mind properly before acting does so at their own peril in life.

To live a life worth living, we must have a plan, and for that plan to manifest into reality we must think, and to think, we must properly engage our mind: as it is for a person, so it is to nations and people without exceptions.

The Bible says: as a man thinks in his heart, so is he, and God cannot be mocked, nor can anything be hidden from His sight. (Proverbs 23:7a, Galatians 6:7-9, Hebrews 4:13-14, Proverbs 15:3, Jeremiah 17:10)

BODY

The mind of Christ is for persons who are blessed, and gifted with the Holy Spirit of God, who live in Christ after the renewal of our mind, due to the work of the Holy Spirit of God present in us when we gave our life to Christ. (Galatians 2:20)

The mind of Christ, or not having the mind of Christ in the context of this particular verse, is also a polite way of saying that no human being can counsel God, and no human being can know the things of God without Christ presence in their heart: talking spiritual to spiritual.

It is not in the place of a person without the Spirit of God found in Christ to fully understand the scriptures and relate with the things of God. It is also not within the jurisdiction of laymen or persons to judge God-appointed apostles, because they are not spiritually discerned to engage in such act. The spiritual judge all things, yet he is not judged by man. (1 Corinthians 2:15, 12:10)

The mind of Christ, primarily focuses on human relationships with spirituality. God appointed Apostles and persons called to preach and teach the word of God, which cannot be derived from man’s wisdom. Apostle Paul, in this verse, was referencing the Prophet Isaiah: “Who hath directed the spirit of the LORD, or being his counselor hath taught Him?” (Isaiah 40:13).

The minds of Christ are persons that are led by the Holy Spirit of God: persons whom the Holy Spirit of God is present in their hearts and active.

The mind of Christ reveals the frailty of depending on man’s wisdom compared to God’s wisdom.

The wisdom of God is what reveals to us, believers how we can begin to live our lives after Salvation in Christ’s righteousness, while the wisdom of man is within the scope of earthy things and the traditions of men that deprive unbelievers of coming to the true knowledge of Christ in God, the Gospel and the need for Salvation, liberty and rest in Christ (John 10:30, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Matthew 11:28-30)

The mind of Christ, reveals the things of God to us, and the lack of it is why unregenerate persons reject the things of God and Biblical text. It is one of the chief reasons God has to come to earth in flesh to settle the sin debt once and for all. (John 1:14-18, 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, 14, Hebrews 10:10)

The mind of Christ reveals to believers, that the Gospel cannot be taught with human reasons, fancy words, or arguments. No: it takes the Spirit of God in power to illuminate the minds of hearers, whenever the word of God is preached and taught.

That is why it is important that whoever is called to lead a people spiritually to an eternal God of creation, must be called and spiritually anointed by God, for the work of the ministry. (John 3:34, Luke 4:18, Romans 10:14-17, Ephesians 4:7, 11-12, 1 John 2:27)

The mind of Christ cannot be taught by men with titles, nor through philosophy.

The word of God is spiritual and primarily meant to turn its hearers from evil to an eternal God of creation in power.

We cannot philosophize the word of God, otherwise, it will render it of its power to rebuke sin, thereby rendering it of its efficacy and might to bring unbelievers to repentance nor build the faith of believers.

The word of God, cannot be taught by rhetoric: apostle Paul is an example of a man of God who, though not an orator, was able to draw the crowd, filled with the Holy Spirit of God, each time he spoke. (1 Corinthians 2:4-7)

The mind of Christ cannot be attained by persons who are not truly converted in their heart, because no man can serve two masters. (Matthew 6:24).

It is for this reason that impostors or oracle men and women that attend church services, never come to the true knowledge of the Gospel and God since the Holy Spirit of God does not respond to double-minded persons. (Jeremiah 7:9-11, Matthew 21:13, 2 Timothy 3:1-7, James 4:8)

The mind of Christ is what the apostles lived by: they learned from Christ and became emboldened after Pentecost day when the promise was finally fulfilled. (Acts 2:1-4,14-18). In many instances, Apostle Paul spoke concerning being taught and led by Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:1,17, Galatians 1:1,11-12).

The mind of Christ enhances our knowledge about Christ as the sole head of the church because it is Jesus Christ who shed his precious blood. It is not pastors, archbishop, or pope. In essence, when the word of God is taught with the wisdom of men, the cross of Christ becomes of no effect to the hearers nor does it win souls for the kingdom, since it lacks the spirit and power of God during its presentation.

The present Bible that is currently available is written in standard English meant to be understood by the average reader. Church service is not the proper place where believers study the Bible in Hebrew or Greek. To shine a light on a topic can be excusable, but knowing all of the Hebrew and Greek terminology does not build anyone’s faith.

Example; unconditional love is the same as Agape love in ancient Greece that Bible scholars should be familiar with: it is not going to turn the heart of an unbeliever to give his or her life to Christ than when the person is exposed to how the Gospel has, in reality, turn people in their community from evil to God in Salvation: it is the witnesses of the saints that squashes all arguments not fancy words, rhetoric’s and grandstanding. (Proverbs 11:3, Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Hebrews 12:1)

The mind of Christ need the authentic word of God preached, taught, and heard from God-appointed persons during worship, not with nice words, but by the spirit and wisdom of God. The spirit of God inspires and illuminates our mind.

The mind of Christ’s presence in the hearts of true Christians and the way we live our lives is a mystery to unbelievers. How we live our lives in humility before God and man, love the things of God, such as righteousness, justice and the rule of law, and have love and empathy for life and our environment, remains a mystery to unbelievers.

How we become spiritually free from the condemnation of sin, and control of demonic forces, and think like Christ while living under the grace of God is a misery and will ever remain a misery to unbelievers. And it remains a mystery to them till they give their life to Christ, be converted in their hearts, and start living in Christ.

As believers, all that should matter to us is to be friendly with the Holy Spirit of God that is in us in righteousness, while winning Souls for Christ, so that we remain fresh in Christ’s mind. (Proverbs 11:3, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:9-10)

The mind of Christ leads believers to come to the knowledge and truth that human beings don’t fight for God: we come to rest in Christ in obedience and love for the things of God. (Exodus 15:3, Psalms 59:10, Matthew 11:28, Romans 12:19, Hebrews 3:17-19)

The mind of Christ is given to the Children of an eternal God so that they can be able to discern and learn the things of an Eternal God of Salvation in Christ saving grace: it is not given to unregenerate souls that are yet to make up their mind about turning to God in Salvation. (1 Corinthians 2:12-14, Ephesians 2:5; 8-9)

FINAL WORD

Unbelievers and persons without the mind of Christ cannot judge persons with the mind of Christ: period (1 Corinthians 2:12-14).

Jesus Christ told the apostles that a servant does not know what the master does. But they are not servants but friends, and as a friend, he keeps reminding and teaching them, what the kingdom of God is about. That is what the Holy Spirit of God is presently doing in the hearts and minds of true believers. (John 15:15, John 14:26).

At the end of it all, it is proper that we all mind our business and always remember that it is a blasphemous and unforgivable offense when we begin to undermine the work of the Holy Spirit of God. (Matthew 12:31-32). The things of God, are not revealed to ordinary or lay persons, but to His Children and those who seek Him. Darkness is unprofitable to human growth and wisdom, rather we should all reprove it from our lives. (Isaiah 55:6-7, Jeremiah 29:13, 1 Corinthians 1:18,2:14-16, Ephesians 5:11)

We are called to rest in Christ, it is no longer a matter of fighting or being zealots for God. (Matthew 11:28-30). The church is where we go to hear the authentic word of God that keep strengthening our faith and keep the Holy Spirit in us energized and alerted at all times, it is not a place for infighting.

Conclusively, if we have not learned anything today, I would say it in three words: “mind your business’ and live the word of God to men and women who are called to the pulpit by God, for every person of God and their works must pass through the fire and be tested. (1 Corinthians 3:13)

When we are in Christ, we are with God. If we begin to be friendly with the Holy Spirit of God in us, we can start to have the mind of Christ, think like Christ, and begin to do the things of Christ. (Isaiah 7:14, John 1:18, 10:30, Galatians 2:20).

Go and give your life to Christ today if you are not saved (John 3:1-7)

Have a Blessed Day
