After losing points for three trading days, activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday regains its strength marginally with 0.59 percent, bringing the year to date return to 35.13 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 36,316.58 against the previous close of 36,102.38 while Market Capitalization closed at N12.517 trillion against previous close of N12.444 trillion. Volume traded increased by 0.16 percent from 224.774 million to 225.141 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 7.64 percent, from N5.090 billion to N5.479 billion in 5,110 deals. The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 183.071 million shares exchanged for N2.221 billion.
Consumer Goods came next with 18.688 million shares traded for N2.263 billion. Industrial Goods, Services, Oil And Gas sectors followed suit in that order on the activity chart.
Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, FBN Holding Plc, and FCMB Holding Plc were the most active stocks by volume.
Fidson Healthcare Plc, May & Baker Plc, Flourmill Nigeria Plc, Livestock Feeds Plc and
Continental Re-Insurance Plc emerged the highest price gainers, while Eterna Oil Plc, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc, Cement Company of Northern Nigerian Plc and Cutix Nigeria Plc topped the loser’s table. At the close of business on Thursday 96 companies shares were traded with a total of 15 gainers and 28 losers, while 53 companies share prices remained unchanged.
