Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi state has given an assurance that his administration would focus more on job creation, empowerment of Youths and students at all levels of education.
The Governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while speaking at the groundbreaking event, the “Kogi Students Parley,” with the themed “Empowerment Through Education: Focusing on the Transformative Power of Learning and Knowledge.”
The governor who was represented by the Auditor General for Local Government, Yakubu Siaka, said that the welfare of students at all levels of education would continue to receive top priority throughout his tenure.
According to the Governor, “This parley is not just another gathering; it is a platform for meaningful engagement, a platform where your voices; the voices of the future can be heard as we work together to shape the future of education and student welfare in Kogi State.
“Let me begin by commending you, the students of Kogi State, for your resilience, dedication, and unwavering support for the present administration in the state
“This support is a clear testament for your commitment to the growth and development of our state, and I am confident that with your active involvement, we can achieve even greater heights”
In his welcome address, Kogi State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Monday Anyebe described the gathering as very crucial to the vision and actions of this administration, particularly in the area of education and student welfare.
The Commissioner said that the theme of this parley emphasizes empowerment through education, and the government of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that education remains a priority in the consolidation agenda.
He said, “We believe that education is the bedrock of empowerment, and we are committed to creating an environment where learning and knowledge can thrive.
“One of the key interventions of this administration is the digitization of bursary payments. This policy is aimed at eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks and ensuring that students receive their bursaries efficiently and transparently. By leveraging technology, we intend to make it easier for students across tertiary institutions in Kogi State to access their entitlements without delay.
“As you are aware, His Excellency has graciously released the funds which is awaiting disbursement following complete registration of students”
