Despite profit taking among existing investors that halt July index rally, trading activities on Friday shows that the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) key market indicators sustained the increase which started on August 1, 2017, with 0.78 percent at the close of business, while the year-to-date return stood at 39.26 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 37,425.15 against the previous close of 37,135.23 while Market Capitalization closed at N12.899 trillion against previous close of N12.800 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 25.08 percent from 412.122 million to 515.475 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 33.47 percent from ₦4.722 billion to ₦6.302 billion in 4,132 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 429.969 million shares exchanged for N4.382 billion. Conglomerates came next with 38.729 million shares traded for N0.211 billion, Consumer Goods, Industrial Goods, Agriculture sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Wapic Insurance Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, Transnational Corporation Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank were the most active stocks by volume.
Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc, Livestock Feeds Plc, Dangote Sugar Plc, Julius Berger Plc, and Fidson Healthcare Plc emerged the highest price gainers on the chart.
Beta Glass Plc, Neimeth Pharmaceutical Plc, Morison Industries Plc, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc and Honeywell Flour Mill Plc topped the loser’s table.
A total of 92 companies shares were traded on Friday with 37 gainers and 11 losers while 44 share prices did not change from its previous price on Thursday.
