The kidnapped Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife have regained freedom from their abductors.

Aghamba and his wife were kidnapped on Friday, along the Edo-Kogi road while en route to Abuja. Aghamba’s aide, ABK Offiah, who was travelling with them, was shot dead by the kidnappers.

The couple were on their way to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

Confirming their release on Sunday, Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Anambra State governor, said they regained their freedom on Saturday night without the payment of a ransom.

He attributed their release to divine intervention, saying, “The Commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God.”
