The Irigwe people in Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area have lamented the flooding from rainstorm that destroyed 200 homes including government buildings.
The 200 buildings with vital documents were affected especially government infrastructure such as a healthcare center, classrooms, business premises are not spared , and poultry farms.
Boreholes and trees were destroyed and uprooted forcing the community to appeal for help to shelter the families under the harsh economic realities .
This medium gathered that three victims of the rainstorm were treated and discharged while those displaced from their homes have been forced to seek refuge with neighbors in the area.
The community leaders expressed concerned over the devastating state of damage done by calling on government to assist them with roofing sheets .
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Plateau State Government, attention is require to rescue them .
The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bassa LGA ,Hon.Fidelis Adara promised that intervention was underway as Council assured the public that the local authorities are taking proactive measures to address the situation.
Adara stated that efforts are underway to secure assistance from the State Emergency Management Agency and NEMA to provide relief and support to the affected individuals and families.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of the rainstorm, residents remain hopeful that swift action from government agencies and humanitarian organizations will alleviate their suffering and aid in the rebuilding process.
