Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, representing Cross River North has said that some senior senators received the total of N500 million each from the 2024 budget.
Jarigbe made this disclosure during a plenary session on Tuesday in the Red Chamber in Abuja.
Coming after Senator Abdul Ningi accused the Senate of padding the 2024 budget with N3.7 trillion in an interview with BBC Hausa, Jarigbe made the allegation in reaction to the way he felt Ningi was treated with a suspension order on Tuesday.
According to the Cross River lawmaker all senators are guilty of such practice, alleging that some senior senators received N500 million each from the 2024 appropriation bill.
He said: “All of us here, are culpable. Some so called Senior Senators here, got 500M Naira each for passing the 2024 Budget. I am a ranking Senator, yet I didn’t get anything. No Senator has a right to accuse Senator Ningi.”
In a swift reaction, President of the Senate switched off Jarigbe’s microphone whilst his colleagues heckled him with call of “point of order, point of order, point of order.!
