The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command, Abuja has managed to disperse early Sunday morning looting of a food warehouse by Abuja residents.
The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident said that the situation had been brought under control as the police acted swiftly on receipt of the information by deploying personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to the area to disperse the looters and secure the building.
She said, “The situation is now under control.”
According to reports some residents of the FCT, swooped on the warehouse belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria, NEMA, and immediately helped themselves to some bags of rice and pastries until the sudden arrivals of the police forces them to retreat. Many of the residents had carted away foodstuffs and other items.
Many claimed the current economic hardship across the country had become unbearable.
It was gathered that the warehouse, located in Karimo, Phase 3 region of the FCT, Abuja.
