General Abubakar Assures soldiers of their welfare

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba,  Jos and commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH)  Major General Abdusalam Abubakar has assured the soldiers under his division of his commitment to their welfare and improvement service as he honoured dedicated officers .

General Abubakar who made this promise on Friday during the celebration marking the end of their yearly sport event, West African Social Activities WASA, in Jos, said he has introduced several programs to enhance professionalism of officers in the field  of theatre operations .

Abubakar commended the officers for their sacrifice in keeping peace in Plateau , Nasarawa,Gombe ,Adamawa , Bauchi and others states .

According to him, the Chief of  Army staff has demonstrated commitment to ensure that the welfare of the personnel improved just as he called on them to sustain their professional in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country and protection of lives and properties of the citizens.

He thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for appointing him to man the two formations simultaneously and promised to build on the legacies of his immediate predecessor, while asking for cooperation from officers and men of the division and OPSH.

He said, “Let me first thank God for the annual event of celebration of hard-working staff and the COAS for providing me to the opportunity to serve in this dual capacity.

“We are fully prepared for the challenges of theatre operations in these offices. I will build on the legacies of my predecessor to achieve our score mandate.

“All I need from the officers and men is to be good followers and for them to remain resolute ,” he said.

General Abubakar promised to use both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches toward achieving lasting peace within his areas of operation.

He also promised to collaborate with other conventional security agencies, vigilante groups and other local security groups to curb all forms of insecurity in its areas of coverage.

Earlier the outgoing GOC and commander, Major Gen Ibrahim Abubakar, thanked officers and men of the division and OPSH for their credible performance in discipline to receive his 2023 meritorious service award as outstanding soldiers and urged them continue with the same gesture.

“Loyalty in the army is 100 per cent and so you have to accord the same loyalty and support you gave to my successor.” he advised.

He appreciated  officers and men of the two formations for making his five-month stay with them worthwhile.

He also commended them for conducting themselves professionally, particularly in the epicentres of recent crisis, namely Mangu, Bokkos , Barkin-Ladi and their environs .
