AfCON: Super Eagles Beat Host CIV, 1-0

Super Eagles beat put their game on track on Thursday as they defeated hosts Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abidjan.

The match which followed match between group rival Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bisau, which ended 4-1 in favour of the former.

The feat by Equatorial Guinea put them at the top of the table with four points after their opening group match against the Super Eagles ended one all.

The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire had defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in the opening match of the competition.

So, the Super Eagles needed a win Thursday match to remain on track.

And they got the win, taking out the Elephants by a lone goal and the needed three points after a 55th minute goal by William Troost-Ekong from the penalty spot.
