It is doubtful if this character who goes by the name Ambrose Nwogwugwu has ever read Mario Puzo’s all time bestseller, Fools Die.
It does not really justify that noble men and women who lose their dear lives in the cause and course of humanity’s struggle for survival and development died foolishly in vain.
Puzo was actually addressing to citizens like Nwogwugwu who do mot know when to write, what to write, how to write, who to write against and for, as well as the most appropriate time to write if at all you must.
The fact of the matter is, as the literary giant, the late Chinua Achebe, masterfully detailed it in his classics, Arrow of God, some people have “put a piece of live coal into the child’s palm and asked him to carry it with care. We all have seen with what care he carried it”.
Since Nwogwugwu jumped out of the PDP to pitch his tent with the APC in 2020, he has been struggling without any meaningful success to really carry the piece of live coal surreptitiously handed to him by his employers.
Those who send forth Nwogwugwu with the piece of live coal in his palm designed it for him to haul it at Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha. Sadly, Nwogwugwu is the one being hit and hurt.
Reading Nwogwugwu’s horrible piece on why Ihedioha should be jailed which was terribly written in an inelegant English, with all its displeasing grammatical blunders, you can clearly place his antecedent, pedigree and personality. That is, his infantile disposition is not only nauseating but also calls for sympathy and mercy.
To start with, Nwogwugwu should ask himself why nobody ever cares to join issues with him anytime his caricature posts shows their ugly signs in the social media. Two, does Nwogwugwu actually crosscheck to know his funny posts measure in terms of traffic? If he does he must have known that nobody reads him, perhaps, on the grounds that he lacks the training, knowledge and professional touch of a writer.
Indeed, using Nwogwugwu’s messy outing on Ihedioha, if you overlapped it, you would have noticed the trouble with that particular notorious article: technical accuracy was zero, syntax was sinful and so woeful, structure was lax, therefore pitiable. In all, the so called article was practically pathetic.
How could Nwogwugwu be talking about the events of 2019/20 on the ever of 2023/24 inauguration? Simply put, Nwogwugwu is being belligerent and cranky on the vexed issues of the 2019 governorship election and its attendant January 14, 2020 supreme court judgment that brought Senator Hope Uzodimma as governor. It is better that we don’t start recycling those past events especially for the single reason that Uzodimma had won a second term in office and had subsequently been sworn – in.
It is not out of place that between 2020 and 2023, Uzodimma struggled for legitimacy, trying to convince Imo people, Ndigbo and Nigerians in general that he was not smuggled in and imposed on Imolites.
Exploring as well as employing the sophistry associated with Nigerian politics, Uzodimma has successfully had his way: installed an APC senator in Okigwe to replace the late Senator Ben Uwajumogu in an Imo North senatorial bye election., and replaced a PDP vacant seat in the Imo State House of Assembly with an APC lawmaker in the Ngor Okpala State Constituency bye election.
And eventually, for someone who was controversially returned by supreme court in 2020 to have won a re – election in a grand as well as landslide fashion, leaves many themes, subjects and storylines for Nwogwugwu to write about than disturbing the peace of an innocent man.
Ihedioha withdrew from the Imo State 2023 governorship election and that aided Uzodimma’s easy passage to victory. Why then is Nwogwugwu still pouring venom on Ihedioha. He should rather be busy and bothered more about Uzodimma’s challenges and promises of a new Imo.
In his second term inauguration speech, Uzodimma promised that 2023 would be better than 2024. It beholves on the Nwogwugwu’s of this world to tell Imo people the plans of their governor towards realizing this noble feat of ensuring a better future for Imo masses.
The way Nwogwugwu is going, he must be cautioned not to toe the path of Akukalia in Achebe’s Arrow of God, who against all warnings, led the war to his maternal home, Okperi, but never lived to tell the story of the battle he was sent as an emissary.
Recall that when Akukalia’s kinsmen sent him to Okperi, they never urged him to fight or kill anyone. It was his decision to do battle with a man he called “father of my mother”, that is, his direct, immediate maternal uncle.
Nwogwugwu’s unprovoked attacks on Ihedioha have all the trappings of Akukalia’s assault on his maternal uncle. This is so because both Nwogwugwu and Ihedioha are from Aboh Mbaise LGA.
Besides, Ihedioha left an immaculate record of achievements and fantastic accomplishments in his seven months stay in office. Ihedioha restored confidence in governance as Imo people, once more, came to trust what the government of the day was doing and saying.
He paid pensioners and revived the civil service system. Ihedioha brought back local government administration to limelight even as he tackled corruption in high and low places.
It is on record that Ihedioha’s 32 road project in seven months is unparalleled and his master plan of returning Imo to Imolites via merit, justice, fairness and equity is still very much cherished by the masses across party lines and irrespective of zone. Ihedioha deserves praises not insults.
