The department of legal affairs in the state of Georgia in the United States of America has written the Secretary of the State Brad Raffensperger that an audit of the 2020 ballots found 17,582 invalid votes.
The state has 16 electoral votes in the Electoral College. Incumbent President Joe Biden narrowly won Georgia by a margin of 0.23% and 11,779 votes. Biden scores 2,473,633 popular votes or 49.47 per cent as again incumbent President Donald Trump’s 2,461,854 or 49.24 per cent.
“Due to the close margins in the initial election results, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced on November 11, 2020 that a recount by hand would be conducted. The recount was completed on November 18, 2020 and Biden was confirmed to be the winner on November 19.
“Trump would engage in unsuccessful attempts to overturn the results, challenging Raffensperger in a widely publicized phone call to “find” 11,780 more votes. Actions taken by Trump allies in Georgia, including a scheme to send fake electors to Congress, are currently under criminal investigation, which has thus far led to a criminal indictment against Trump and his allies.”
In the letter to the secretary, above, the legal affairs department stated that the state’s electoral commission will discuss the situation on Tuesday 19 December and Wednesday, December 20, 2023. All the parties involved were invited to attend.
