Nigeria Senators on Sunday donated their one-month salaries to victims of the drone attack that killed 86 persons gathered for a religious for religious activity at Tudun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday 3, December 3, 2023
Ismail Mudashir, Media Adviser to Deputy Senate President JibrinBarau announced the donation during a condolence visit to Kaduna on Sunday.
Jibrin Barau, who led other Senators and represented Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during the visit, said the Senate was disturbed by the incident and that it would work closely with President Bola Tinubu to unravel the remote causes of the incident.
“In this hour of grief, we are with the people, the bereaved families, and the state government. On behalf of the Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and all the 109 Senators, we want to express our heartfelt condolences to them.
“We also want to declare that all the Senators—109 of us—have agreed to donate our one-month salaries to the victims of the unfortunate incident. We are, therefore, donating N109m,” he said.
Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who received the Senators, expressed his pleasure at the prompt visit of both the executives and the legislative arms over the incident and lamented the attempt by some disgruntled elements to bring religious and ethnic sentiments to the attack.
