The management of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has terminated the appointment of some of its staff and demoted others for ticket rackteering.
Fidet Okhiria, Managing Director of the Corporation disclosed this information during at the House of Representatives during a meeting with the Committee on Finance in Abuja on Wednesday.
The disclosure came up during the enquiry by Chairman of the Committee, James Faleke who expressed lack of readiness of the Corporation to self- fund its operations considering its paltry N345 million remittance to the federation account for 2023.
Despite this poor show, Faleke insisted that the Corporation should devise creative ways to generate revenue and find it’s operations while remitting surplus to the government.
Recall that ticket rackteering has been a major headache if the NRC throughout the tenure of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amechi.
