Nigeria’s oldest chartered accountant, Chief Akintola Williams, is died, aged 104 years.
Chief Williams, a founding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ran an A- grade accounting firm, Akintola Williams and Co, entered the Guinness Book of Records as family with the highest accountants and maintained an enviable life characterised by values and integrity that would remain a model for running successful companies, businesses and homes.
Apart from leaving footprints on the accounting profession, Williams was also instrumental in developing the country’s financial sector.
Born in 1919, Williams studied accounting at the University of London and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1947. He returned to Nigeria and later set up his accounting firm, Akintola Williams & Co., in 1952. Upon going international, the company changed its name to Deloitte & Touche.
