After ugly days of twists and turns in his supremacy battled with his principal Governor Godwin Obaseki that ended in his office being relocated from government premises, Edo State Deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu on Tuesday gave up.
He issued a personal statement that he has withdrawn the suit he filed against Obaseki, seeking protection of the court.
Shaibu had approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, to seek protection from impeachment. And the Court an order of interlocutory injunction, restraining the Inspector General of Police, State Security Service, the Governor of Edo State, Speaker of Edo House of Assembly and the Chief Judge of Edo State or their agents from harassing, intimidating, embarrassing or preventing him from carrying out the functions of his office as Deputy Governor of Edo State, including attending State Executive Council meetings and other functions pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Shaibu asked the court to restrain the Governor, the Speaker of the State Assembly, and the Chief Judge from “initiating impeachment proceedings or sanctioning any impeachment” against him.
He said he was withdrawing the suit following the intervention of party leaders, religious, traditional and community leaders in the ongoing feud between him and his principal.
