One feared Dead, Many Injured In Plateau, Taraba Border Attack

At least one person have been reported killed and many sustained various degree of injuries in the midnight attack by suspected gunmen in a border community between Plateau and Taraba states.

The coordinated attackers stormed the village in a Taraba State neighbourhood harbouring predominantly Tarok speaking natives of Plateau State when they were said to have gone to sleep .

The attack lasted for two hours during which the gunmen shot sporadically and injured mainly women and children.

The name of the community is Nzamtun, village founded by Tarok people in Taraba state and Pekat, which is roughly 1.5k from Kadarko in Wase Local government of Plateau State, which has been the epicenter of recent attacks that have claimed over a hundred lives in three months this year.

An eyewitness who refused to disclose his identify for fear of attack said he could identify the attackers but urged the security personnel to conduct thorough investigation and arrest them to prevent further breakdown of law and order in Kadarko District of Wase LGA in Plateau State.

He however disclosed that one Sunday, popularly known as daddy, who is notorious for the killing of the Tarok was killed in midnight raids when the gunmen targeted him .

He said the gunmen promised that they will continued attacking the communities if their leader Dindam Bulus Rimkat is not released from police custody.

He alleged that boys loyal to police confirmed criminals Shehu Jatau and N Dindam Bulu Rimkat  were sighted around the community before the attack took place .

One  Hyguon Motorcycle was carted away by the attackers , who fled on learning Kadarko people had mobilized to offer help to Pekat community.

The police was yet to respond to enquiry before press time
