Faced with the choice between telling the truth and spending a lifetime in jail, Memsoma Ejikeme who was found by the Joint Admissions and Matriculated Board, JAMB, to have manually inflated her 2023 result from 249 to 362, has confessed to the crime.
Until Wednesday, when the 19 year- oldย confessed to the crime, many Nigerians supported her self- exonerating version of the story with some philanthropist like INNOSON Motors CEO, Emmanuel Chukwuma who gave her a N3m scholarship and some Nigerians in the Diaspora, who promised to pay her fees abroad, joining her supporters.
JAMB however stood it’s ground, concluded further investigation alongside her home state government of Anambra and insisted she inflated her result. The examination body went ahead to slam a 3-year ban on her and withdrew her result, according to JAMB’s Ag Director, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
But during an interview Channels TV on Sunrise Daily programme this Wednesday morning monitored THISAGE, Mmesoma admitted that she received an automated text message from JAMB indicating that her score was 246 and not 362 as she claimed while the saga lasted from Monday to Tuesday, mostly on social media.
Confessing to her crime on live television, Mmesoma said the only SMS she sent to JAMB was through its support system: โThatโs the only SMS I sent there.โ
Asked if she got any feedback, she said, โThey didnโt reply. If they check their JAMB Support System, they would see that I sent a text message. They didnโt reply.โ
On the claim that she used an Airtel line, Mmesoma replied: โYes,โ but she added it was โnot through USSD codeโ.
โThe one I checked through the USSD code is the one of 360 that I saw,โ she explained further.
Responding to the claim that the feedback from JAMB showed her score as 249, she agreed.
โYes,โ she said. โAfter all was said and done, I now saw that I got 249. I sent them a text message there to know what really happened โ the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.โ
