Senate Approves Tinubu’s Request to Appoint 20 Advisers

From Victor Osula, Abuja

The Senate on Tuesday approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to appoint 20 Special Advisers.

The approval came after Tinubu’s letter to the Upper Chamber requesting the approval was read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan during plenary.

However, the letter had no names of the Special Advisers attached.

Lawan said,  “It is utmost urgency that the president has his team to work with.”

“Because there is no name for special advisers we will just approve it from here. We feel that that this is something of utmost urgency.”

Section 151 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) confers to the president powers to appoint special advisers to assist him in the performance of his functions
