Kogi Governorship Aspirant, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kogi state, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris has declared that he has all it takes to provide the state with quality service delivery if given the opportunity.
He promised that Kogi people under his leadership if given the chance, will be provided with the needed democracy dividends and topmost priority for their welfare.
Asiwaju Idris gave the assurance while unfolding his plan of action at a Media Parley organised by Kogi NUJ for governorship aspirants in the state on Monday.
“Am the most qualified person to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello” Idris affirmed.
He disclosed that he will base his administration on the Economic Development Plan of 32 years life span, developed by Governor Yahaya Bello to take state to the next level of development.
Idris, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Development in the state, described the development plan which has gestation periods for its components to mature, as crucial to the development of the state, now and in the future.
According to the aspirant, the economic development plan includes social inclusion that would involve people with disabilities and capable of solving most of the socio-economic problems bedevilling the developmental process of the state.
Idris also said that he would use the abundant coal in the state to generate adequate energy to boost efforts of his administration to industrialise the state.
On funding, Idris said that his administration would embark on tax policy that would not put tax payers in pain among other financial activities that would boost the economic activities in the state and improve the welfare and well-being of the people.
He also promised to improve on the educational sector by making use of educational institutions to empower the people to enable them contribute to the development of the state.
In his address of welcome, the Chairman of Kogi NUJ, Alhaji Mimohjimoh Adeiza, said the parley represents the constitutional mandate of Journalists to hold public officials accountable to the people.
He commended the aspirant for his role in the success of the current administration in the state as Commissioner and for reposing confidence in the ability of Journalists to deliver their responsibility effectively in information dissemination.
