Ramadan: Saraki Seeks Prayers For Buhari, IDPs 

Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to dedicate the Ramadan period to offer prayers for the full recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and the prosperity of the country.

Saraki in a message personally signed by him, said that the Holy Month presents another opportunity for Nigerians to show love to the less privileged, especially those currently living in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in some parts of the country.

In a statement to mark the beginning of this years’ Ramadan Saraki said he was pleased to congratulate Muslims at home and abroad while reminding them of its import as one of the five pillars of Islam.

“Ramadan is a unique symbol of the values that Muslims and people of all faiths share – that is charity, cooperation, compassion and self-restraint.

“Ramadan is also an occasion for Muslims to strengthen family and community ties and share God’s gifts with those in need.

“This is why I invite us to reflect on the conditions of our brothers and sisters in IDP camps across the country that, for no fault of their own, are unable to fast in the comfort of their homes like you and I. This heart-breaking conditions therefore remind us all of our common humanity and compel us into positive actions that could bring a permanent end to the situations.
“I like to also use this occasion to pray for the quick recovery of our dear President, President Muhammadu Buhari. My thoughts and prayers are always with him just as I wish for him a complete and restful recovery.”, he said.

 

 

Pega & Friends Foundation, a non-profit non-governmental organization yesterday marked Children’s Day with the distribution of educational relief materials to 2,070 children of the school for physically challenged children and the UAMC School in Eleja, both in Ilaro-Yewa of Ogun State.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Chairperson of the Social Committee of the foundation, Madam Sunmisola Adeyemi, said he was delighted to deliver on the foundation’s mission statement based on giving back to less-privileged kids in the society, who he noted were the future leaders of tomorrow.

 

Responding, Head Teacher of  UAMC ELEJA ILARO (School 1), Alhaji Gafar thanked PEGA for remembering the pupils of his school and urged successful Nigerians to copy the examples of PEGA by extending help to the needy in the society.

Afterwards, the gifts in the goody bags were given to the pupils, who beamed with wild smiles as they danced away to the blaring sound.

 

Receiving the guests in her school, the proprietress for the Special Children School, Mrs Babatunde thanked PEGA and Friends Foundation for remember the children and showering them with gift, which will make them have a sense of belonging in the society.
