Justice Nanpon Dadi of the Plateau High Court, Jos, has adjourned to the 8th of December ,2022 for hearing in a suit filed by the Chairman/CEO of Dilkon Plastic Ltd, Hon. Leonard Dilkon challenging some expatriates and Nigerian over fraudulent activities in the state.
Recall that Chairman/CEO of Dilkon Plastic Ltd, Hon. Leonard Dilkon recently addressed a world press conference in Jos where he accused some Indian expatriates working in his organization for vandalizing and destroyed his factory located at Bisichi with the connivance with some officials of the Indian High Commission.
He further compared that the approach adopted by the alleged “vandals to destroy his factory was similar to the approach used to steal oil in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria in particular and the destruction of the Nigerian economy in general.”
Those set to take their plead before Justice Nanpon Dadi are Mr Parag Sule, Babatude SadiqTitus, Yohanna Gareka and their Indian partners, namely Gopep Rajan Singn, Sachin Singn.
They were scheduled to be arraigned before the State High court on 11 counts charge Wednesday but only three of them were in court while two were said to be on the run.
After moving the motion, the plaintiff counsel, Barr Francis Okafor told the court that the matter was slated for the taking of plea from all the defendants, except that only three of them were present.
The defense counsel to the 1st ,4th and 5th defendants, Barr. Vincent pleaded with the court that the 1st defendant is currently sick and has been hospitalized in India after receiving information of the death of his father and the shocking news of an In-law who have been in coma for two months.
However, he told the court that the Indian High Commission granted him emergency request to exist the country on the 17th of June 2022, upon receiving that said information. Barr Vincent disclosed that when his client received the summon for pleading, they both communicated through WhatsApp to know the time he would return to Nigeria to enable him to take the plea.
According to Vincent, his counsel forwarded the letter from the Commission to the hospital in India, where he was refused to leave until he is medically fit to be discharged.
He said the Nigeria High commission has requested me to furnish them with the date for the prehearing because of authorization due to this circumstance I’m asking for adjournment.
Vincent explained that he did not know the whereabout of the 4th and 5th defendants and prayed the court to issue a bench warrant on them.
The counsel to the 2nd defendant, Barr Bitrus Dung didn’t oppose to the adjournment application including the 3rd defendant counsel Barr Nantok Dashwar.
The 6th defendant counsel Barr.D. K.Gongtul couldn’t also oppose the application for the adjournment.
