The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Central Senatorial candidate in the Plateau State, Golkuna Yohanna Gotom aka ‘Digital Senator’ has described the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the president, if elected, that can revitalize the country and address the challenges posed by kidnapping, banditry and farmers/herders’ conflict.

Gotom reiterated that the former vice president was a key player in the development of new Nigeria who assisted President Olusegun Obasanjo to lay the solid foundation for national growth at the beginning of the fourth republic.

All that good beginning, he lamented, has been reversed under the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, administration with rising cost of living, unemployment, heightened insecurity, and mistrust among Nigerians.

G.Y Gotom who is currently vying for senatorial seat to represent the Plateau central Zone Constituency spoke in an interview with journalists in Jos recently.

He faulted moves by former Governor Jonah Jang to ally with Governor Nyesom Wike who is fighting the party for choosing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as VP, saying, “That Baba Jang can go to Port Harcourt and say he doesn’t have anything to do with PDP Presidential candidate led by Atiku Abubarkar is bad.”

According to him, the claim that Atiku Abubarkar jettison the gentleman agreement of zoning of presidential ticket along the geopolitical zones of Nigeria is untrue, saying that “politics is about interest.”

He likened that crisis in PDP to a family misunderstanding and the undue interest in it by those he called political mischief makers as a show of recognition of the party’s strength.

He frowned at the “rumour making around by some political jobbers who stock in trade is to blackmail and continue dirty character assassination to portray PDP in bad light by saying the party engulfed in crisis.”

He explained that the crisis within the state chapter of the party was being resolved amicably, adding that “for amicable resolution within the party, I embarked on peace mission to the residences of the senior stakeholders of the PDP here on the Plateau State, including Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, where vital issues was discussed on the need to promote harmony among aggrieved members.

He disclosed that the party cannot move on with presidential campaign as a divided house and called on the party leaders to put their differences aside and come together as formidable family, towards winning the presidential election.

” I want to correct the notion from some quarters that PDP is divided, that is a lie, PDP, in plateau state is one family. The party is not divided as being peddle by some political jobbers who are already scared of the political weight the party is pulling ahead 2023.”

Gotom vowed to make the Plateau Senatorial Zone an Economic hub of the North Central Zone and by extension Nigeria.

He further called on the people of Plateau state and Nigeria in general to avoid making another mistake of voting the APC as there is no alternative part from PDP.
