Ajibade celebrating her decisive goal for Nigeria
Nigeria Super Falcon on Thursday in Casablanca, Morocco tamed the Lioness of Cameroon 1-0 with text book header from Rasheedat Ajibade in the 56th minutes after a colourless goalless first half.
The win set up a semi-final with host Atlas Lioness of Morocco and secured a world cup ticket in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
According to the rules of the tournament, all four teams that make the semi-finals at the ongoing continental championship in Morocco would pick automatic tickets for the Women’s World Cup, with the team adjudged to have finished fifth presented with another chance for a shot at a Playoff Tournament next year.
The win also boosts the record of the Falcons who has now trounced the Cameroonians nine times in their 14 encounters that saw three draws and only two wins to them. This would be the ninth time the Super Falcons are qualifying for the World Cup.
