Dramatic twists in Russia – Ukraine War as Russian neighbour, Finland joins Sweden in applying for membership of the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO.
Wednesday’s submission of application to join NATO by Sweden and Finland, both neutral and non -aligned countries, will, inevitably, change the dynamics of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Particularly Finland, which shares over a thousand kilometres of border with Russia, is now apprehensive of possible Russian invasion.
Putin’s reaction to this morning’s application is expected. He had already warned both countries to maintain their non-aligned status, threatening that joining NATO would mean declaring themselves enemies of Russia.
Turkey has condemned today’s move by the two countries , stating that ” both countries harbour terrorists”
The war in Ukraine has definitely changed in dynamics and will be a very long war, that may spill beyond 2023.
