FAAN Apologises to Mother of 14 Year-old Daughter Extorted by Immigration Officials

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has apologised to Ratchet Rayne, mother of a 14-year old daughter who was extorted of eight thousand Naira by two officials of the Nigeria Immigration Services before travelling on Lufthansa Airlines in February, 2022.

Ryan had tweeted on February 9, that her daughter who was travelling alone was defrauded by the officials, who, “took all her money before they let her go. Didn’t leave her with 1 kobo or one 1 thousand Naira so she can buy food while she waits.”

Upon inquiry through a committee it set up in response to Ryan’s allegation, the FAAN authority was able to find the two culpable officials through the help of CCTV facility and got the officials to return the money. “Their Duty Cards were also withdrawn permanently and they were banned from working in any Nigerian airport, to serve as a deterrent to others,” said Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Faithful Hope-Ivbaze on Friday.
