Attired in an all white outfit, the country’s number one citizen, Friday attended Juma’at prayers at the Aso Rock Mosque, Abuja, at about 1:23pm.
Flanked by some members of the National Assembly, his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Mongunu, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Malam Lawal Daura, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru, President Muhammadu Buhari who was initially scheduled to meet with his Nigerien counterpart Friday, looked regal and fit as he attended the prayer session with hundreds of worshippers.
His cheerful looks belie the mounting suspicions over his health, which has made prominent Nigerians to issue statements asking him to take a rest from official duty to seek treatment.
Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina in a statement on Thursday night said all arrangements had been concluded for President Buhari to receive his Nigerien counterpart, President Mahamadou Issoufu and his delegation at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa.
He said the Presidents were to attend the Juma’at prayers together as well as lunch, before the last-minute postponement at the instance of Issoufou who has another domestic engagement.
“A new date for the visit will be announced in due course,’’ Adesina said.
