Osun: Hope Democratic Party Kicks Against New ‘Children’s Parliament’

The Osun State chapter of the Hope Democratic Party has kicked against the inauguration of Children’s Parliament, which took place in the state yesterday.

According to the party in a release signed by the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Wole Adedoyin: “Our party is not satisfied with the selection process, only the children of the rich and the political class loyal to the governor of the state were selected. Children of the poor masses were schemed out of the whole process. Some did not even know whether such parliament exists in the State.”

“From our research only those children whose parents are wealthy and influential were considered for the parliament.  Even some Osun State community chiefs were not aware of the selection process. Such nomination should be competitive and democratic”.

The party further faulted the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs and the state government of Osun for organizing such “ an undemocratic and uncivil event.”

It however  urged the organizers of the scheme to cancel it and organize a new one, which will be democratic, well publicized, and encompass all.
