IPC to Host Public Presentation of Publication on NBC Code.

Mr Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director, IPC.

The International Press Centre, IPC, has concluded plans to launch,’ Question Marks on the 6th NBC Code Amendments’, a compendium of the views of a Consortium of Independent Broadcasters and Free Press Advocates on the contentious amendments, on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Expected at the public presentation of the book, holding at the IPC conference hall, Dideolu Estate, Ogba, Lagos, are media and communication practitioners; media scholars, media organisations, media unions and other key stakeholders.

According to Mr Lanre Arogundade, Executive Director of IPC, “the publication is a major response to what was perceived as a grand design by the authorities to stifle the broadcast media in Nigeria considered to be profoundly germane to the nation’s democracy, particularly for the grassroots.

“It is especially intended to enhance a deeper understanding of the issues at stake on the recent amendments to the 6th Edition of NBC Code.

“It will equally serve as an advocacy tool against the arbitrariness and draconian tendencies of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
