CP Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka
The new Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command , CP.Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka has resumed office with assurance to the people of the state to improve on the existing security architecture as the primary objective of his assignment .
Onyeka emphasized that the command strategies would be an intelligence led community policing which transcends not just law enforcement to embrace human security and development services but necessarily require diverse expertise and whole community support .
He disclosed that policing under my watch would be driven by fore knowledge and guided by intelligence at strategic ,operational and tactical levels .
“It should therefore be proactive, preventive in orientation and conducted within the context of public ownership ,partnership. ,partnership problems solving and community support with a mainstream human security, “he added.
Onyeka appealed for continue support ,cooperation and collaboration from every citizen through giving useful and timely information to the police on activities of criminal elements for prompt action .
Addressing journalists at the Headquarters on Friday ,Onyeka said under his operational strategies revolve round a project named “Plateau First, ” which means working hand in hand with the host communities to promote peace, security and safety of the state through commitment and professionalism.
He stressed that he designed the project after a careful study of the security challenges that are prevalent in the state such as cattle rustling, armed banditry, reprisals attack ,kidnapping ,abduction,culpable homicide and to some extent farmers /herders clashes .
According to him ,in order to achieve this task, “my management team and I have commenced the run review of the existing crime fighting strategies so that we can meet up with the challenges of modern day police.”
The Commissioner explained further that their combat readiness ,determination and total commitment towards onslaught against vicious crime in partnership with the state government ,traditional rulers ,community and religious leaders will be greatly improve and sustained.
